WELLONS, Rachael Entered into eternal rest on the morning of May 30, 2004, Mrs. Rachael Kinard Wellons, wife of James W. Wellons. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at eleven o'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Tuesday between six and eight o'clock where at eight o'clock an Eastern Star Service will be held. Mrs. Wellons was born December 28, 1923 in Walterboro, SC, a daughter of Eugene Kinard and Dana Herndon Kinard. She was a devoted wife for fifty-seven years. She was a member of the Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church and a Sunday School Teacher. She was employed as a Manager of Western Union. Mrs. Wellons was secretary of Eastern Star Loyalty Chapter #136 and a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Assembly Dorchester #20. She is survived by her husband James W. Wellons; two sons - Wiley Eugene Wellons of Ravenel, SC and Ernest W. Wellons of Charleston, SC; four sisters - Grace K. Lyons, Evelyn K. Herndon , Betty K. Warren all of Walterboro, SC; and Margaret K. Mole of Goose Creek, SC; two brothers - Derrall Kinard of Lexington, SC and Leamon Kinard of Petaluma, CA. She also leaves behind one granddaughter Melodye Suzanne Berry. Mrs. Wellons was predeceased by a daughter Suzanna K. Berry. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rutledge Memorial Building Fund, 2014 Bee's Ferry Road, Charleston, SC. 29414 or Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Ave., Suite 101, N. "Aiken Standard, 14 Feb 2004:
WALTOBORO -- Eric Wilson Herndon, 77, a retired employee with Savannah River Plant, and husband of Evelyn Kinard Herndon, died Saturday evening at his residence.
Mr. Herndon was born May 1, 1926 in Walterboro, a son of the late George Walter Herndon and Thelma Hiers Herndon. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. One of his greatest companions was his dog named King.
Survivors besides his wife, include: two sons, Jeffrey Walter Herndon of Walterboro and Charles Eric Herndon and his wife Annette Langdale Herndon of Walterboro, a daughter, Charlotte Herndon Culpepper and her husband, Elton Lawton Culpepper of Walterboro and four grandchildren, Erin Leigh Culpepper, Evan Lawton Culpepper, Erica Nicole Herndon and Rebecca Danielle Herndon, all of Walterboro.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at the chapel of Parker Rhoden Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Steve Brown. Interment will be in Carter's Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parker–Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro.
